Have you ever, no matter what you did or how your day progressed – seemed to always find yourself looking at your clock at exactly the same time everyday or maybe another day, just out of the blue? Continue reading “#Sunday’s Thought: What’s Up with 1022?”

Sunday’s Thought: The Struggle is REAL!

Sometimes our struggles to live or continually be saved feels like an ice-cream scoop. No matter how hard we try to get that perfect circle on that scoop – something happens and life comes tumbling down, just like that ice cream below in which probably landed on the ground after only a couple of licks.

Struggle3

I recently seen a post in which someone asked the following question:

It’s so easy to say we should hate sin and run from each temptation, but it’s a different thing to do it. That’s where I’ve had trouble. I want God so much, but I have certain areas in my life that sin still has a hold on me. I do good for a while, then fail. Or lose my temper, or etc. So how do I make it from here to there. How do I cultivate this holiness that is required to see God. How can I keep my focus and passion high enough to fight until I can overcome?

This question was answered perfectly by the blogger, but it got me to thinking. “How many other people feel this way”, “How many other people are there that really have a desire to walk in holiness and be a good christian but miserably fail at it; anytime they get up to do the right thing – it seems like they trip and fall every time. So, while the question above was answered, this is my answer to anyone else whom may struggle on a daily to be fully committed to God. (see below)

We all have times in which we want to give God our everything but for some reason while that’s our hearts desire, the temptations of life seem to always get in the way of us fulfilling what our heart wants and that’s to be closer to God. The Apostle Paul said, (paraphrasing)….Every time I want to do good, Evil seems to always be there too. Romans 7:21

We have to understand that when we have a mind to want to please God, the enemy is going to always be there, to make sure that we don’t fall through with our choice. His job is to always bring distractions and destruction to our path, anything he can use to make you discouraged in fully trusting and/or believing in God. But there’s a secret to overpowering his deception, and it’s this “Your will for wanting to serve God has to be stronger than your struggle not too” – meaning,  You have to fight your way through your decisions and/or struggles to fully rely on God and it’s not going to be easy.

When the enemy sees that your will is stronger than anything he’s throwing your way? Then he’ll leave you alone for a season…because he’ll have to step back and figure out where your new weakness lies. We have to be consistent, that’s where our true power resides….In consistency. The enemy fights us where we’re weak, if one minute you’re in and the next minute you’re not, then that also means you’re double minded, and the bible says in James 1:8 “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” constantly wavering between doing right and not doing right is a breading ground for the enemy.

If he can keep you confused and perplexed about your walk with Christ, then he’ll continually keep throwing things in your path to keep you that way. Another thing you have to keep in mind is this, because this is my thought process when it comes to the enemy “He doesn’t really have that much power, we give him the power to do things. The enemy has to go and bow down before Christ, just to ask him a question about us” So, if he was sooooo powerful and mighty – then why does he still have to bow down, you know why? Because he recognizes that God is ALL powerful and the ruler of the Universe, he also knows that God is over him – he can’t do anything unless he gets permission from God to do it. God is all his love and glory, brags about you and tells the enemy that you won’t fail or fall for his tactics, he speaks highly of us. So when the enemy tempts us and we fall or fail…..he laughs and tells God “See, what I tell you” but God, like any Father or parent believes so highly in us, he knows that next time – we he’ll be the last one laughing. I know what I said may sound sort of juvenile but I want you to know that God wants you to succeed and never wants you to fail. You can see that here:

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13

You see?, the only thing you have to do is ask God to make a way of escape for you – If you really don’t want to do something, all you have to do is ask God to get you out. I’m telling you this, because I’m a witness of him doing it in my own life.

Once your desire becomes stronger than your struggle – that’s how you WIN!

Poem: I Am Thankful

When I read this poem, it really stirred something in me and also made me realize the many “small” things in which we miss to give thanks for daily and the people who make giving thanks worthwhile. The bible says “In Everything, Give Thanks!(1 Thess 5:18). No matter what situation or circumstance we may face, while it may be hard to do given the situation; We should be thankful for all things GREAT and small.

I AM THANKFUL

Author Unknown

I am thankful for the wife who says it’s hot dogs tonight because she is home with me and not with someone else.

For the husband who is on the sofa who is being a couch potato because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes, because that he or she is at home, not on the streets.

For the taxes that I pay, because it means that I’m employed.

For the mess to clean after a party, because it means that I’ve been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work, because it means I am in the sunshine.

For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government, because it means that we have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am able to walk and that I have been blessed with transportation.

For my huge heating bill, because it means I am warm.

For the lady behind me in church that sings off key, because it means that I can hear.

For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means that I am alive.

Finally, for too much email, because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.

While there are lots of negative things we can complain about; the news displays those things everyday – there are even more wonderful things to be THANKFUL about!, as the poem above so graciously reminds us of all those “small” things everyday.

Wishing you and your family a very blessed and safe Thanksgiving!!

Monthly Series: An Attitude Of Gratitude -Challenge #1

photo credit above can be found at mahindraraj

So, as promised today is the first day of our Monthly series – Attitude of Gratitude. Just in case you missed the November Vibes post, Every Monday and Wednesday for the month of November, I will be posting questions in regards to being grateful. I will answer these questions myself but my hope is that you will answer them too and leave those answers in the comment section.

Some questions may have us digging a little deeper within ourselves to answer them, but in the end – my hope is that you will feel more empowered and begin to see yourself and even your life differently and not just for the month of November – but for every month of the year. You can choose to start a journal if you want but this challenge as you may say, is not just about us writing things out and leaving it in a little book to store it away and go back to it when we’re reflecting on our life but the challenge is to show it, so as an extra bonus after every question regarding yourself will be a question in which will relate to the world around you, it’ll be called “Our End of the Day Question” – you don’t have to write about it here, but it’ll be something that you’ll just ask yourself everyday at the end of your day. While writing out what we’re “grateful” for is half the battle, showing gratitude for and towards others is the KEY!

So, let’s do both – reflecting and showing….(by the way, the passage above will be in every challenge post to start off, however; a new question will be at the bottom of each post).

Today's Challenge Question is.... (8)What are you grateful for today (My response):

Today, I am grateful for life – health and strength. Life to be able to see another day and start over with a clean slate, no matter what yesterday looked like. I’m grateful for having a new day to do things things over. A new day to squash goals, be a better mom and co-worker, a new day to continue to walk and work in my purpose. I’m grateful for my health, it could be a whole lot worse as I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic – I’m grateful for having a mind to want to take care of my health and do the right things to make sure I’m in the best shape possible. I’m grateful for strength, to be be able to move past hurts, disappointments and failed relationships. It’s not always easy – but I’m grateful to God for not allowing me to succumb to my issues but for giving me the power and strength to bull-dozer through them.

Now It's Your Turn– Comment Below –

Your End of the Day Question:

How did you make others feel today, did you display your best attitude?

Sunday’s Thought: So, Where Those Flowers At?

Smelled Any Flowers Lately?

Smelling Flowers3

I was talking with a friend today and they began to nag about how they wish they were at home. They’ve been out of town for about 4 weeks and began to complain about where they were, the violence and everything negative under the sun. So, I asked “Why would they rather be at home? After-all, No one else is there and they always complain about they’re always complaining about their nagging neighbor or how bored they consistently are. At least out of town, they’re surrounded by people whom love them and cared enough of them to take them on a trip.

Sometimes , we have to take time to smell the flowers and that includes being around loving people. Okay, so what does, “Take Time to Smell the Flowers” truly mean? It means to take some time out of your busy, hectic, crazy, complicated life and breathe in the fresh air, take time to notice the small things around you; such as aSmelling Flowers4 kiss from your child when they whisper, “I love you.” or the butterfly that just so happened to fly on your window sill, before you got in the car. Take time to look at the trees and look at nature in all it’s splendor. Have you ever just taken the time to look up at the sky?, It’s filled with so many shapes and it’s so blue and beautiful and when the sun sets, it’s like looking at a piece of artwork that God designed and framed himself. These are just the “flowers” that I observed in my own world.

As a people, sometimes we really never know what we truly want – We want jobs to make money, but yet making that money causes us to miss out on the most important things in life, we never smell the flowers until we’re laid flat on our back from working too much. But it shouldn’t have to take an accident or sickness for us to realize how beautiful those flowers really are.

So, I’m telling you – Stop and Smell the flowers baby, enjoy them; because when those lonely times come and they will, you’ll be able to look back and reminisce on the beautiful smells of the flowers that you stopped along the way to look, listen and smell.

TIPS FOR HOW YOU CAN STOP & SMELL THE FLOWERS AROUND YOU:

  • Take Time To Read
  • Stop by Lowe’s or a Greenhouse (even Wal-Mart) and visit the Plant area, just to smell the flowers.
  • Take Time to Have Coffee or Lunch with a Friend.
  • Learn a new Craft.
  • Write a Letter to Yourself or someone Else.
  • Take Time to Bake a Cake or Something Sweet and invite someone over to try it.
  • Take Time to Spend with Family and Have a Movie Night.
  • Spend time with a Child, Yours included.
  • Take Time and Spend with that Special Someone, Let them know how much you either care, appreciate or Love Them.
  • Take Time for YOURSELF! & Do Nothing at All.
