I appreciate everyone who’s purchased my new and first faith-based children’s book “Billy Wolf & The Kids of Heavenly Hills Elementary” – It’s a book concerning bullying and hopefully it will inspire our kids as well as adults to speak up and take action. You can listen to my first interview podcast here.

Here’s another review from an author/publisher in the U.K.

“I was captivated from the very first sentence of the book all the way to the very end. I was eager to see where the story was going. As I continued reading, I thought about my 12 year old daughter also reading and enjoying the book. Therefore, I cannot imagine a child of elementary school age who wouldn’t love reading the book too. The moral behind the story is really how children should and shouldn’t handle such serious issue – one which drastically affects lives. I love how the quietest and most unassuming child turned out to be the hero of the story – highlighting that two wrongs DO NOT make a right! What I really loved is the spin on the story from a faith-based perspective. It is a very well written book which I thoroughly enjoyed as it was very easy to read and understand. I look forward to reading more books like this by the author, Roshonda”.

Anyone Up for a Book Club? (Movie Review)

the photo above from Bing/courtesy of movie “Book Club”

‘Book Club’ is the latest movie I saw over the weekend that really surprised me. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about looking at the movie as in the trailer, it looked as if these “seasoned” women were trying to get their groove back by reading “Fifty Shades of Grey” in which we all know (that is if you’ve seen it) is filled with whips, chains, and very exploratory sex scenes. Honestly, I couldn’t enjoy either the first nor the second without turning my head or cringing in my seat, needless to say – Fifty Shades Freed which is part 3 of the series did not make my movie watch list.

So, I honestly was turned off by the movie because if that, but who can pass up a movie with Diane Keaton, who happens to be one of my favorite actresses ever since I seen her in ‘First Wives Club.’ with also starred the incomparable Bette Midler and funny lady Goldie Hawn (both of which I love as well.  Jane Fonda is also a favorite – in which she killed it ‘Monster-in-Law’ – Which happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time. And let’s not forget Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown, Home Again) and Mary Steenburgen (Step Brothers, The Last Man on Earth)

'Book Club' film premiere, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 06 May 2018
From Right: Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, Jane Fonda & Mary Steenburgen

As much as I wanted to pass up on this movie – This cast of phenomenal women had me thinking twice about my decision and I’m soooo glad that I didn’t pay attention to my thoughts or skepticism. This movie on a scale of 1-10, I’d give it a full ten. It was liberating, sweet, comical and thought-provoking. I’m not one to believe in Love, mainly because of my horrific experiences with it, but these ladies made me believe that love is not only possible but can still happen no matter what “age” you are. It made me realize that love is not dead and there are people out there who are looking for it, believe in it and want it – just as much as you.

The story follows four friends who’ve been a part of each other’s lives for over 30yrs. One is married, one is wealthy, one is run by her daughter’s who thinks their mom is old, fragile and honestly can’t function in life and the other is a federal judge (Can you guess who is which?). As busy as their lives are, they all come together once a month for their book club meeting and this time it was Vivian’s (played by Jane Fonda) turn to pick a book a boy oh boy did she pick one.

To little dismay, the hesitantly decide to accept Vivian’s book choice “Fifty Shades of Grey” in hopes that it will help them discover the women they once were all while adding a little spark to their sex lives as well as their love lives. The suttle instances that happen next for each of them is life changing and while the book was a start, these ladies soon find out that a book has a way of shaping your life more than anticipated.

Book Club is a feel-good comedy that’ll make you want to get together with your girlfriends and start your own book club.  It’s a movie, that will make you laugh, maybe cry and if you’re having second thoughts in regards to love, maybe this movie will change your mind.

Book Club is out now and you can rent at your local Redbox or if you have the firestick, look it up tonight and plan a movie night with your closest girlfriends or by yourself – either way, you’ll enjoy it. Do you enjoy movies? Wondering what other movies are good to look at? Check out my girl, Rakkelle – who has a list of other movie reviews that I’m sure you’ll want to add to your movie watch list!

My prayers are with everyone who is impending Hurricane Florence! Please be safe and Take Care of yourselves and your family.

Tuesday’s Question: What Would You Do, If This Was Your Gift?…

photo above courtesy of jeau/deviantart

I personally know there have been many instances in my life where I wonder “Hmm, I wonder what I would have done in that situation.”

I loved the show that used to come on, on Friday nights, hosted by John Quinones entitled “What would you Do?” – it was a show in which where they would take random life instances and have them played out in front of people to see “what would they do” on one show I watched this guy and girl were on a date – the girl leaves to go to the ladies room and while gone, the guy slips something into her drink. The goal of the show was to see if anyone would stop the girl from drinking the drink or just look away as if they didn’t see anything at all.

Review: My Monday Movie Favorite Is….

Question of Faith2

Have you ever questioned God?, I mean – I know that might be a silly question because to be honest; we all have questioned him at one point in time or the other. We question him when he sends us on a path that we’re unsure of, We question him when hard times hit us out of nowhere and We question him when our lives don’t seem to add up the the plans that we had for it – In times like that, we have so many questions and very little trust in a man that has a plan for everything – including tragedies.

In the movie “A Question of Faith” you’ll see three different families of whom’s life all come strategically together by crisis in which drives all their faith to the ultimate test. The movie in which stars, Richard T. Jones, Kim Fields, Jaci Valasquez, T.C. Stallings, C. Thomas Howell, Gregory Alan Williams and Renee O’Connor was produced by Angela White, film producer, talent and business affairs executive and founder of Silver Lining Entertainment. To her accreditation, White is the producer of several films including “The Sin Seer” starring Isaiah Washington, Lisa Arrindell & Salli Richardson (in which is now in my Netflix list of movies to watch), “My Favorite Five” which stars Rochelle Aytes, Brian White & DeRay Davis (this movie was hilarious and on point; single ladies will love this one – I sure did), “The Last Letter” and “The Comedy Underground Series.” In producing “A Question of Faith”-  Angela White became the first African-American female to release a theatrical faith based film (Go Girl!!!)

Angela White

‘A Question of Faith’ transcends time, race, gender, class and religious ideology. This is a film that can open one’s heart and make a person reevaluate some of their own personal life decisions. We want people to walk away knowing the word of God is there to comfort you and that having faith in what you can not see is okay, as God has your  life covered, and the questions you may have are already answered.

Angela White, Producer of “A Question of Faith”

A Question of Faith, is a beautiful story of how God may not always answer our prayers in the way that we think  he should and while we may have many, many questions in regards to the direction of our lives; if we can truly put our trust in him, he has plan and will never, ever let us down. It’s a film that will make you rejoice, think about your own life and cry in the process, knowing that God is not only a healer but a restorer of FAITH! I wasn’t able to make the screenings of this movie when it first came out in September, but I’m so glad, as now it’s at the redbox and available for everyone to see and trust me, you’ll definitely want to rent this one for movie night this week. Spoiler Alert!!! – you’re going to need a BUNCH of tissues!!! I cried and cried and even had to do a couple of rewinds, it was just that powerful and uplifting.

The movie also raises awareness about texting and driving and organ donation in which I thought were good causes and glad that the affects of each, can be recognized and put on display. I know you’ll get something out of this movie – if you’ve ever had questions about God’s plan for your life, this movie will sure give you the Faith you need to still believe. You can follow Angela White on Instagram – as I know for sure, she has many, many more things up her sleeve for 2018!!

For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

So, grab your family, popcorn and your tissues and rent “A Question of Faith”
