EnSpired: You Gotta Watch “BAO” By Domee Shi

Okay, so this post isn’t going to be long because I really want you to see this very inspiring, loving and (you betta get your tissues) video. Over the weekend I watched The Incredibles 2 with my son and daughter and it was really, really good. Let me just say “Jack-Jack” stole my heart and was the cutest and main character of the movie (to me at least)

It was fun, action-filled and let’s just say “Elastigirl” got her time in the spotlight but things aren’t always as good as they seem. We really have to “check” people’s motives for why they want us to do certain things – anywho, it’s a great movie that the whole family will love. While the movie was great – it was this video at the end that brought tears to my eyes a short-film by the name of “BAO”

bao_dumpling_recipe1

Bao is a Chinese word in which means “dumpling” – it’s a delicacy that’s filled with meat or vegetables and then steamed/broiled. However, you may get another meaning once you see the film below. If you’re a parent, you’ll understand this and even if you’re not;  It’ll take your mind back to your own childhood and put you in the shoes of how your parents must’ve felt when it came time to “letting you go so you can discover your own wings” The film was inspired by Chinese-Canadian Domee Shi . According to Shi, the story’s meaning came was inspired by her “overprotective” mother when she was growing up. The short film is one of the first directed by a woman for Disney Pixar.

Okay, so I’m warning you again – you’re going to need some tissues for this one.

Watch the film and let me know what you think in the comments. Also, Incredibles 2 is now available at your local Redbox.

Must See TV – Falls Bringing In Newbies As Well As Our Favorite Staples & I Got the POPCORN!!

The photo above and other photo’s in this post courtesy of Pexels and Bing

Okay, so I’m going to be very transparent right now – a sistah does NOT have cable but when you have such options as the Redbox, Firestick, Netflix, Hulu and let’s not forget “your regularly set T.V. Channels” who needs it. I’ve gone years and not had it and only felt bad when the kids complain about wanting to see certain shows. However, that’s an extra 120 dollars plus kept in my pocket every month. Can I get an AMEN to that!

Video: Wednesday’s Word – MS. BIG MOUTH ALMIGH-TEE

LET THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATION OF YOUR HEART…

BE ACCEPTABLE (Psalms 19:14)

That scripture just happens to be my favorite; as a matter of fact, the whole book of Psalms is my favorite book of the bible. Have you ever found yourself saying ‘just the wrong things at the wrong times???

Especially when it comes to sharing your business, goals, dreams and etc., I know personally this was a serious issue for me for quite some time. I used to wonder why things never really were working out for me or why is it when I would take two steps forward – I always ended up taking 5 steps back. I mean, what was I doing wrong?

Then it hit me one day – “Girl, YOU TALK ENTIRELY TOOOOO MUCH!!”

lips

I mean I was talking to everyone about EVERYTHING! & Trust me, sometimes you need to shut the door on people and work behind the scenes. In this video, I’ll take you back to the 80’s with a little RUN DMC classic as I share 3 tips of the common mistakes I made in talking too much and how God desires you to keep things secret too.

This will be my last Wednesday Word video posted here on the Blog – However, If you would like to receive notifications on when I post the next Wednesday Word video or any videos thereafter, please be sure to visit my YTUBE channel and hit the subscribe button and turn on the bell notification so you’ll be the first to see every video once they become available.

Billy Wolf & The Kids Are Here – School is NOW in Session!

Bullying is something that everyone faces at some point.

At Heavenly Hills Elementary School there is harmony among the students and the teachers, everyone is friendly and supportive. Until Billy Wolf enrolls into the school. He wasn’t the friendliest person, which was okay, but when your unkindness affects even the happiest kid, then it has a way of affecting everyone. From the day he arrived in the school, Billy caused havoc – every time someone tried to talk to him or befriend him, he’d do something mean to them.

Video: Wednesday Word – BLAME IT ON ME!! IT’S MY FAULT…

BLAME IT ON ME – Chrisette Michele

Sometimes you can work it out
Sometimes you can’t
Sometimes you’re forced to watch everything fall apart, it’s out of your hands.
Sometimes leaving is easy
Sometimes it ain’t
Sometimes it hurts to know the loving you had was slowly fading away

You can say whatever you like
As long as we just say goodbye

Blame it on me
Say it’s my fault
Say that I left you outside in the cold with a broken heart
I really don’t care
I ain’t crying no more
Say I’m a liar a cheater
Say anything that you want
As long as it’s over

Those song lyrics provided by the multi-talented, singer, songwriter, poet and Grammy award winner Chrisette Michele in 2009 was my jam! I can’t tell you how many times I listened to it over and over and over again. I’m a word person, so lyrics are everything to me and when they have meaning? Oh Yes, now that’s a good song. As a matter of fact, that whole ‘Epiphany” album gave me confidence and power as a woman, to be okay with certain decisions I had made in regards to relationships. Those lyrics were also powerful when I went thru a couple of not-so-good relationships that ended in the blame, being shifted to ME!

Now don’t get me wrong, no one’s perfect but sometimes when things end badly and when your name is attached to it, it doesn’t feel good AT ALL! Sometimes you have to kick your own self under the bus orrrr, take one for the team as the old saying goes, which is not easy when our name is attached.

But, if that means getting out of that relationship (whether personal, social or work related) will guarantee me a “peace” of mind to be away from toxicity? Then bring on the BLAME! In this video, I talk about a previous relationship I was in that brought on the Blame Game, how it made me feel and the attitude I had moving forward from it.

*I have some music playing but please excuse any extra noise you may hear, it was raining that day and didn’t know how bad that noise affected the sound =(
