THROWBACK THURSDAY’S, REVISITING YOUR PASSION….

PASSION

You know tomorrow is or today, whenever you read this is Thursday; However, I hear a lot of people talking about Throwback Thursdays, in which is supposed to be a day where you revisit the past to bring something to the present day, this could be a variety of things depending on the individual. In thinking about that I decided to revisit a passion of mine that I honestly didn’t really put too much thought into and that was/is “writing” – You know before you were born God knew if you were going to be a boy or a girl, he knew what color you would be, what your name would be and even knew (far ahead) who you were meant to become, what accomplishments and failures you would experience in life and how you would handle or use the gifts that he has placed on the inside of you.

The bible says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5)

So if God knew you before your parents knew that you were to be born, do you not think that he already has equipped you with the tools to handle the gift that he has placed on the inside of you. He placed a wonderful gift in you, a magnificent gift that someone else might do or duplicate but because it’s a GIFT that HE has given to you, you will have the emotion, the spirituality and the drive in you to take your gift to levels that an ordinary person whom don’t have that gift will not be able to do. You see God has equipped “YOU” with the gift, so you already have the necessary tools to take that gifting from a 2 to a 20.  With that being said, I revisited a writing that I did when I was in the 11th grade, which was just last year – Just kidding, it seemed like last year, but it’s been many moons ago.

When I looked back at the writing, I couldn’t believe that it had been so long ago as my words were so big, you would have thought you were looking at cloud writing, guess I was still trying to figure out my writing technique. As I looked at the writing before me I thought about the gift that God had placed in me, I realized that I always had the ability to write; I wrote poems, I wrote short stories, I wrote plays, I even composed and wrote for newsletters – WOW! all these years and I had not even noticed how God allowed me to use my gifting and I sat on it, used it sometimes but generally sat on it, I didn’t take it no further than I wanted it to go, It was just a passion that I loved doing but I wasn’t using it the way God wanted me to use it. You know there’s a saying that says “Your talent is God’s gift, What you do with it is your gift back to God”

I challenge you today to revisit your passion, which is your God given gift. Are you using it like you should?, Have you used it some and now it’s on the backburner because life has gotten too busy? What is your passion…..what have you been doing all this time, maybe just for fun only to realize that it’s your natural born gift.

You see, you were not just BORN, you were BORN with a gift already equipped and ready to go on the inside of you. You wouldn’t expect to buy a car without the engine or buy a lawn mower without the motor, just as those objects come equipped already to help you do the job that you need to do, so is the God given gift that’s placed on the inside of you.

USE EVERY GIFT, EXPEND EVERY TALENT – So when you go before God, you won’t have to give him anything back.

Talent

In Lieu of Throwback Thursday, I thought I would share one of my first writings with you – It may be a little cheesy but it was for a class project, the teacher challenged us to use our imagination and write about anything in the room for a grade – This is where my imagination took me..

THE DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHALKBOARD

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE & LOVE SOME MORE..

LOVE2

I was talking to a co-worker today, she recently lost a close cousin whom passed away suddenly – She was there today and gone tomorrow, so unexpectedly….too soon….and without any warning.

In talking to my co-worker she informed me that the Pastor at the funeral was preaching on “Don’t put off tomorrow what can be done NOW! (Paraphrasing the title)

Too often we put off telling someone we love them, we care for them, how much we appreciate them and so forth because we always look for the day of “TOMORROW” to get things done, plan for events or even call someone. Not to be the Debby downer in this situation but tomorrow is not promised to none of us, we can be here today and out of this world tomorrow and sometimes you don’t have to wait until tomorrow as I’ve often heard people say “HERE TODAY, GONE TODAY”

We live in a world/society where the inevitable is likeable to happen, one minute you’re well and the next minute you find out that you have a debilitating illness that can either be cured over time or cause you to leave this world a little sooner than you could have ever imagined.

I said all of that to say, LET US LOVE, NOW! – LET US SHOW MERCY, NOW! – LET US BE PEACEFUL AND SHOW PEACE – NOW! LET US NOT BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE, NOW! – LET US FORGIVE, NOW!

Why wait until tomorrow to call the person that you’re angry with? As a people we hold on to issues too long, we hold on to grudges too tightly, we embrace stubbornness and hate has welcomed itself into our houses and our homes and has taken a seat at our dinner table as our new best friend.  And what is it doing? Killing you! Not them, But you!

The bible says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Matt 6:34 (NIV) so even God wants us to concentrate on today, be your best today, do your best today, LIVE your best today, say I love you today – TODAY!

Tomorrow is not promised to any of us and we have to live our life as if today is our last day, so make it count for something. What will the dash on the headstone that’s placed in the ground say about the life you once lived, that dash in between your birthdate and your ending date is the sum of your life….what stories will it tell, what secrets will it hold, what lies will it reveal; will it represent you well?

While you still may have many years to live, make each day count toward LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE AND LOVING SOME MORE because if you know God you should know LOVE!

The song below is called More Love by Erica Campbell – More Love displays the characteristics of Love, It brought me to tears. Listen, Let it bless you! & Spread LOVE afterwards.

When God doesn’t come right away…

If you have not seen it already, the movie “RAY” was a Biography about the life of legendary singer Ray Charles, the movie depicted his life from childhood when he went blind to an adult. In the movie it also showed his triumphs as well as his demons…….I thought the movie was great and that Jamie Foxx did an Excellent job in portraying him, he went on to win an Oscar for his performance.

I loved the movie and out of all of the scenes that stood out, the scene below stood out the most to me – In this scene Ray had totally gone blind, his mom had been trying to teach him to do things on his own because the world that they lived in would not be so kind to a blind boy/man. In this scene he ran into the house, tripped and fell and immediately screamed out to his mother for HELP! In the midst of watching him, her body immediately jerked to go and pick him up, but she stood back; watching and waiting to see what he would do next.

You know just like that mother I believe God does us the exact same way, He loves us but he’s not the God that is going to constantly hold our hands through every trial, every test or every disappointment. There will come a time when he will stand back and see what it is that we will do, will we stay down in defeat or will we get up, dust ourselves off and listen quietly as the young man in the movie did, to the sounds around us, sometimes we can’t hear God in chaos or when we’re upset, but we hear him easily when we are quiet,  in this quietness that’s where he will guide us to our next step.

Just as a mother, who’s child is learning to walk for the very first time – her arms wants to constantly pick the child up every time he or she falls but in her heart she knows that, that will not help them but disable them and their chances of having a productive life would be slim. That’s how God does us, we start out as children, we make our mistakes, we fall, we get up and we fall again but in the fall a lesson is supposed to be learned which will make us stronger and more in tune to his spirit.

God does not expect us to stay children because in the spiritual realm we have phases – we start out on milk but as we grow in the word we graduate from milk to puree foods to get us ready for the tougher food ahead. God loves you and yes you may have fallen but when you cry out to him and he doesn’t answer right away, don’t think of it as God not listening to you or seeing you when you fall, he sees you and he’s listening – He just wants you to Grow Up strong so that you may put on a heavier armor to battle, so when you do face your oncoming trials – you can face them head on; because you will be strong enough to handle it.

And at the end, just like the mother did to her son; when you have mastered the test set before you, God will then come and wrap his arms around you and say – Good job Son, Good job Daughter you have passed the test.

CHAIN, CHAIN, CHAIN – CHAIN OF BLESSINGS?

04-29-16_breaking-slavery_original

Have you ever received a CHAIN LETTER? I’m sure everyone has at some point or another.

The dictionary states that a chain letter is: a letter sent to a number of people, each of whom is asked to make and mail copies to other people who are to do likewise, often used as a means of spreading a message or raising money.

But I want to focus on the word CHAIN: which means…
a series of objects connected one after the other, usually in the form of a series of metal rings passing through one another, used either for various purposes requiring a flexible tie with high tensile strength, as for hauling, supporting, or confining, or in various ornamental and decorative forms. another form of a chain is bondage or servitude….loss of freedom.

I want to talk to you about CHAIN letters, Chain letters are the letters that you get that has some type of poem, story or subliminal message about being Blessed, loving God and expecting a miracle. While some of the verbiage is good and meaningful, I just can’t help but notice at the very bottom of the letter it says something like “IF YOU LOVE JESUS” – Pass this on to 5 people or If you pass this on to 14 people you will expect a miracle tomorrow, the money one’s are so convincing as they go something like this “If you are in need of a financial blessing” – pass this on to 9 people and expect something in the mail tomorrow……and if you’re not careful, you will find yourself breaking your neck to meet the demands of the chain letter in order to get a blessing….

I used to be one of those people as it seemed like I always got the letters when I was in dire need of a financial blessing, miracle or something else. I would literally break my neck to send the letter to the amount of people it suggested because if I didn’t I was afraid that I wouldn’t get blessed or get the miracle or whatever the letter suggested. I fell victim to the CHAIN,  Is this you??

I realized after much deliberation that I didn’t need a letter to work on my behalf with God, if I had a relationship with God as I should then a letter does not and will not validate a blessing for me. The bible says, if you walk right before me I will give you the desires of your heart and Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and ALL these things will be added unto you. BOOM! There it is Inspirations, God already gave you the tools to get your blessing…..God does not put an ACTION before a COMMAND; you have to do something in order to get something. In this Microwave society that we are living in today, we as a people want things quick, now, fast & in a hurry, WAITING is out of the question, I believe that’s why so many people fall prey to the CHAIN letters, If I can get what I want in a matter of sending something so seamlessly profound to a couple of people then it will take the guess work out of waiting on God.

I’m not knocking the individuals whom do it on a regular, but I would hope and pray that your prayer life and link to God is not determined by you sending someone a letter or those sending it back to you. Blessings do not and will not come that way……If you Love God like I believe you do, then the only thing you have to do is be obedient and wait.

Don’t be so quick to get caught up with the small things, if Life was that easy – There would not be a worry or care in the world as your day will be determined by a simple CHAIN letter. Listen closely to the word “CHAIN”, with everything going on in your life, do you actually think you need to be bonded down by something else?, Let’s put our perspectives in place; you’re only a victim to whatever you allow to possess your life, you have control over what you allow to come in and what you allow to take over.  When I get Chain letters now, I delete them – the old me would have totally dismissed any actions of doing such a thing as I honestly thought that by deleting them, it would bring some type of misfortune to my life, boy was I mistaken.

Get to know God and rest assured, that if you walk UPRIGHT before him – He will give you every desire of your heart………NO CHAIN LETTER REQUIRED.

TRUSTING IN GOD, EASY OR NOT…

Trust in the Lord2

Last week I found myself bombarded by a lot of decisions that were brought to my attention, Things like my job for instance which has been a roller-coaster since I came aboard almost 2yrs ago and being presented with another job that sounded so good given my present working conditions. I was torn and didn’t exactly know what to do; should I take it? I mean after all it would be a great move, better conditions as far commuting is concerned and I wouldn’t have to pay to park in which does not guarantee that you will get a parking space (still don’t understand that one). While the conditions looked great I found myself wanting to discuss this move and/or decision with friends, family and so forth – just to get an idea of what I wanted to do.

I have to admit I thought about God but then I really didn’t want to know what his plan for that situation would be because mainly I myself wanted to leave my current situation, but I had to refer to the scripture that says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all they ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy paths. (Prov 3:5-6), This is what God wants us to do in uncertain situations, to Trust in him – What I failed to realize is that God wants us to communicate with him first about the decisions that we have to make for our lives.

The bible says, Trust in the Lord with ALL you heart, meaning you have to know that he has your best interest at heart, Trusting in God is like trusting in a friend, boyfriend, family member and so forth, the same trust you put into those individuals whom can and will only give you “THIER” opinion about how you should handle the situation, putting trust in God is not him giving you just his opinion but his exact details for your situation.

Not leaning to your own understanding is simply not going by your own words and advice or judgment, this is also so easy to do but without guidance from God, our own decisions can lead us into the wrong situation or circumstance that’s not meant for us to go into, we think we know what’s best…..but in reality only God knows what’s better.

Acknowledging God in all our ways is asking his input for our everyday life…..to what we should wear, to what we should eat, to where we should go and even to which direction we should take. God longs to be in relationship with us, he calls us his friends (John 15:14-15), so if he thinks of us as his friends then why not let him become apart of your every decision.

I ended up not calling anyone about the decision of the job first until I talked to my first friend and that was God, I realized that while all of my arrows were pointing in the direction that I felt it should go, talking with God and asking him to work out those areas or decisions that I was  pondering on according to his will made me feel easy about discussing the issue with others in which as I told them its in Gods hand and let his will be done. See I know that my thoughts are not his thoughts and neither are my ways his ways……That’s why its best to Trust in the Lord…..he always knows best.

While I wait for his answer about the job, I take pleasure in knowing that his timing is not always my timing and when the time is right he will give me the answer I need when I least expect it.

So Today and Forward, Trust God with your every decision and by decision I mean give him your heart.
