It’s Storytime! – Love, Wealth & Success

I thought I’d end September off with a little story, this isn’t just any story – it just happens to be one of my favorite ones. In speaking with a good friend last week, I shared this story with them and thought “Hey!, why don’t I post this” and here it is. Just a little background on me, because I don’t just want to slap a story in your face that’s seemingly coming out of the blue…HA!!

However, I’m not the most outspoken person; but when I got a love for something, sometimes I just can’t help myself. I have always loved news, stories, quotes and just random acts of kindness and thoughts of others in which I try to share with you, my friends and the blogosphere audience. My mom used to always tell me, that I missed my calling and should’ve become a reporter because I loved the latest news (not to be mistaken with gossip…Lol) but I loved hearing peoples stories and/or reading about them.

I just had a passion for wanting people to know things that were going on around the world may be something people either never heard of or discovered. My passion is writing and most of the stories I share from time to time are from my own collection some original, others stored for perfect times like this to share them with you; It’s a Gift from God that I don’t take lightly because this is a ministry for me.

I actually pray before I get busy with the compilation of every blog post; if one person can walk away with a different attitude or a different perspective on life then Gods Gifting that he has placed on the inside of me can be glorified. I absolutely look forward to working on every post. Tired nights and little sleep, pay off when you take the time to read the things within the blog or leave a comment on a post. I love people, I love inspiring and motivating and sharing my heart, whether it’s a thought, a story, something ridiculous I’ve done or put the light on someone else doing good in the world. So without further ado, I hope you enjoy this story and that it blesses your day. (You might have heard it before)

A woman came out of her house and saw three old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said, “I don’t think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.”

“Is the man of the house home?” they asked. “No”, she said. “He’s out.”

“Then we cannot come in”, they replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. “Go tell them I am home and invite them in,” he said.

The woman went out and invited the men in. “We do not go into a house together,” they replied. “Why is that?” she wanted to know. One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth,” he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, “He is Success, and I am Love.” Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home.”

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. “How nice!” he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!”

His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?” Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!”

“Let us heed our daughter-in-law’s advice,” said the husband to his wife. “Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”

The woman went out and asked the three old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.” Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other two also got up and followed him.

Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: “I only invited Love, why are you coming in?” The old men replied together: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would’ve stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him.

Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!”

So, this goes to show that if you have LOVE – you truly do HAVE EVERYTHING!

  1. Thanks for the encouragement 🙂

Ugh, I notice WordPress does that to me when I try to comment on my phone. I just checked my sites (new & old), but I didn’t see anything. I’m sorry to have missed it!

  2. Ooh, I wasn’t prepared for that twist! It put a real smile on my face! It gave me relief too, because it’s true. I don’t have to work on everything to get everything. Just on love. Wonderful and also hard to wrap my head around.

By the way, I read your book. I loved it! I was cheering inside when someone finally stood up to Billy. I found it interesting that even though it’s a children’s book, it’s very relatable as an adult. I think many of us have come across people who can make an environment toxic because they’re struggling with something and take it out on others. I liked how things turned out in the end, though. I also think it was an interesting way to teach kids about the Bible: give them a real life story and then link it back to the Bible. I think you really get the value of it that way. And the prayer at the end was so compassionate. You obviously care about this a lot. Congratulations on a fantastic job, Roshonda!

    1. Sissssssssssssss!!!! You Got the Book???…..I literally had to pause for a minute before I started writing again, tears upon tears upon tears. You just don’t know how much that meant to me. And your comment!! Wish you could leave that on Amazon – however, I’m going to copy and paste the comment because each Thursday when I post – I’m going to have a new comment and if it’s okay with you….would love to put yours on one of them. Sis, my gosh – even though I’m writing I’m speechless.

Uh, let’s see – Yessss – I loved the story, the ending was a clincher huh?, we work so hard to gain wealth and success but LOVE is the key to it ALL! So glad you loved it – its truly a favorite of mine, I have another one that I may share towards the end of the month…you might like that one too.

Sis, to God be the glory for your comments about the book. Thank you for confirming that it’s not just for kids but for adults as well. There really is a bible lesson in it and that’s to show kids that hey, God can use you no matter what height you are – He can use you to make a powerful difference. The prayer was definitely God given. I feel we should pray for everyone – bullies included as you said they struggle too and we just never know what their environment is like either – in which is why they normally do the things they do.

I can’t say enough Thank you’s but just know – Your message was indeed received by a heart of many, many, many thanks!

Love you Sis and I appreciate your support! xoxo

      1. I did! Gotta support the fam 😉 I did leave an Amazon review. Yes, please feel free to use my comment! Hope all of this helps to move you forward.

Yes, God can use anyone for His good purposes! I’m working my way through the Bible and that’s one of the things that’s hitting me over and over. He’s used people who’ve harmed believers (Paul), prostitutes, kings, people on the margins of society. I think there’s a common (and incorrect) message that we have to be good enough for God, but we just need to be available.

      2. Yes and that’s what matters most – is being available, that’s all God requires is your heart of availability. So proud of you and your bible reading – that’s awesome!

Say, I read your post on contentment and left a message, but unsure if you got it because wordpress was doing some weird thing and told me I was logged out…smh. I know good and well I was logged in – I said so much…lol (as usual! lol) but I’m going to go check it out and leave another one if the first one didn’t take.

Love Ya Little Sis! & I really do appreciate your support.
